The advantage with Heathrow Airport is how accessible it is. There are so many transport options for you to choose from including your own car, bus, train, tube, taxi and then incoming national flights.
You may find that from where you live in the UK using a train is a cheaper option to get you into the centre of London. There are plenty of trains travelling to and from London regularly from all over the country and depending on where you are located will determine the price you will need to pay. For example from Edinburgh in Scotland to London Central will only cost you £120, as you can see this is an affordable option over filling up your car and driving yourself.
Always confirm the timetable and prices online. Buying your ticket in advance can dramatically reduce the price you pay, so once you’ve booked your flight from Heathrow, book your train ticket to get you to London.
Once you arrive in London you can catch the tube to Heathrow, the tube service to Heathrow from central London will only cost you around £5, which is a great saving. The benefit of this is that the Terminal 5 tube station is situated in the basement of Terminal 5. It’s easily accessible from the terminal by following the Underground signs.
On your return you can hop back on the tube into central London and then onto your train back home. If you have a wait in London take advantage of the luggage storage area at Victoria Station and have a wander around the streets of London before heading back to the station and boarding your train homeward.
Travelling by train and tube can take the frustration out of driving yourself to the airport. You don’t have to pay for expensive long stay car parking spaces or worry about the security of your car while you are away, all you have to do is sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.
